HUM 4000 Oxford: Special Topics (6 Credits)
Prerequisite: Acceptance into the Oxford Scholar’s Semester in Oxford. In this course, taught through a semester-long program of the Council for Christian Colleges and Universities in Oxford, England, students attend discussion classes in the topic of their choice and have two tutorials. They develop close reading skills with study of gobbets (short pieces of text which epitomize an argument or illustrate a technique), hone their writing skills by producing two tutorial essays after extensive reading, and polish their presentation skills with an oral presentation to the group. In addition, they will join the whole student group on field trips to memorable sites in Oxford and the south of England.
