Art and Design: Photography (BA)

Program Description

In the Art and Design: Photography major, students are equipped to become skilled visual storytellers and proficient in the technical and creative aspects of photography and video. Our curriculum in Photography has a threefold focus. First, students develop a strong foundation in the technical elements of the medium, including photography, video, post-production, and lighting. Second, students explore the historical context and cultural impact of photography and video, examining how both mediums have shaped visual culture and been shaped by it over time. Third, students engage in project-based learning, refining their ability to produce work that communicates meaning and tells compelling stories through visual imagery. Career pathways for Photography track graduates include jobs in commercial photography, editorial photography, fine art photography, video production, photojournalism, post-production, digital media, lighting design, arts education, and more.
