ELT 6400 ESOL Planning, Instruction, and Assessment (3 Credits)
Presents culturally responsive teaching and learning practices. Supports the development of teaching strategies and methods for multiple language proficiency levels in a variety of learning environments. Provides opportunities for reflection and analysis of the experiences of ELLs and how such experiences influence their education. Examines a variety of materials that enhance language and content-area knowledge. Describes principles, instruments, and methods of reliable and valid assessment for ELLs. Explores linguistic and cultural biases within assessment instruments. Explores the appropriate use of data from a variety of assessments to inform instruction.
