Communication
About the Department
The English, Communication, and Cultural Studies department houses multiple programs: Communication & Media Studies, Film Studies, and English & Cultural Studies (including concentrations in literature and in creative writing).
Our faculty are motivated by a love of language and visual narrative, avid curiosity about how the world works, and a Christian commitment to building more just, equitable, and inclusive communities—both inside the classroom and out.

Communication Programs
Our major in Communication & Media Studies and our minors in Film Studies or Communication prepare you to understand communication as a social, intellectual, ethical, and artistic process. You will learn to engage in communication and film as a responsible human behavior.
In your courses, you will investigate communication as a shaper of history, examine speech as a tool and an art form, and study film as a creative and responsible human behavior.
You will gain understanding, ethical frameworks, and skills to manage your conduct as a compelling communicator in both mediated and unmediated forms, whether you are majoring within the Communication Department or in any other field of study offered at Seattle Pacific.
