University Medical Insurance Plan

All international students at Seattle Pacific University are required to carry health insurance every quarter (including vacation periods and summer sessions).

Students who are in F-1 status will automatically be enrolled in a health insurance plan through the company LewerMark while attending SPU. Students carrying other visa statuses can enroll in their own insurance plan or contact International Student Services to check if they are eligible to enroll in the LewerMark plan. The LewerMark plan protects students while they are at school and when traveling or studying abroad. For additional information, visit their website lewermark.com/spu.

There are only limited circumstances in which a student can request a waiver to the health insurance requirement. Students must contact iss@spu.edu to request a waiver.

Although health insurance for students’ dependents is not required, it is strongly recommended and can be purchased directly through LewerMark or another vendor.

Undocumented students may contact Health Services office for medical insurance information and guidance.
